The Seattle Times: Business & Technology: CES 2004: Gates points PCs at home entertainment: "Gates offered few details about another device, the Portable Media Center, which plays movies and music, and is a bit smaller than a typical paperback book. A user can transfer files from a personal computer to the Portable Media Center, formerly known as Media2Go, and take it on the road.
The Portable Media Center is expected to go on sale sometime in the second half of the year. Microsoft has not announced its price or given any details about what kind of content could be available to transfer to the device. It is not expected to have wireless or cellphone capabilities. "
